Gun Rights

As an avid sportsman and firearms owner, I oppose the over-regulation of guns owned by responsible Americans. Firearms safety education is an essential aspect of gun ownership, helping create a culture that respects the rights of gun owners and acknowledges their responsibilities. I am not supportive of any legislation that takes away the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

During the 110th Congress I supported several legislative actions designed to protect our citizens’ Second Amendment rights, and I will continue this fight in the 111th Congress. In January of 2008, I joined the Congressional Second Amendment Caucus to help advance the cause of responsible gun ownership and to work in Congress to protect the rights of Americans. We firmly oppose the “banning of firearms, their accessories, their manufacturer, and their importation, and recognize the right of lawful citizens to carry a weapon both at home and while traveling the nation.”

As we move forward with the 111th Congress and new legislation is introduced regarding the Second Amendment and firearms, I will continue to fight for the protection of this important Constitutional right.
